Learning Life Skills

Image
Naya was excited days before of the Scout Camping in their school. This is the second time their school will have a camping experience. When I arrived home one night, she greeted me in the door and asked immediately to allow her to sleep on campus. I asked why, she excitedly replied because it was camping day that Friday and they could only be allowed to camp if they are joined by their parents. Maybe she knew that I would readily agree to allow her to join the camp and sleep on campus. I always put priority on my kids learning life skills.  Scouting was very influential in my growth as a leader. It taught me a lot of survival and life skills. I pray that this will also be the same with my kids especially Naya. The world of technology that they live in is very different and it is a welcome deviation for them to learn how to prepare their own food, prepare their own sleeping space, care for themselves without the special amenities of technology.

7th Birthday

Image
She wanted to have a treasure hunt on  her birthday. So, when she woke up the first thing that she received was a clue to her birthday surprise. Follow the clue "what can you see in the middel of the sea?"   She was able to answer all the riddles and find the clues to her treasured gift. She searched under the table, behind the couch, up in the rooms, outside the dirty kitchen, in the ref and in the calendar.  And the special gift was "Family." She celebrated her "Siete anyos" with her friends in McDonalds. This was her first birthday celebration in the fastfood joint and the first children's party for ALL her classmates after the pandemic. They had so much fun during the celebrations.

Christmas Post Covid

Christmas celebrations are hopefully going back to like what it used to be before the pandemic. This will be Naya's first to celebrate Christmas without her cousins and even Lola Dania. Ballet Recital

Naya wanted to dance ballet years before. But there was no ballet school in Santiago and it was Covid. So, when last year they announced that the Ballet School in Isabela will open in Santiago this summer Naya was so excited. Now her dream to be a ballet dancer like her sister is achieved. She was trying to catch up even when she was one of the smallest from her class. Her siblings were supportive of their sister and cheered her in their performance.

Kinder and Covid

Kindergarten is supposed to be playschool for kids and a time for them to meet other kids their age. Social interaction and learning skills in play.  But the Covid-19 pandemic did not allow Naya to experience that.  School was through a virtual platform and they get to meet classmates and friends online.

Playing is Learning

Naya is always excited when Mom and Dad goes out for grocery. Not because of the groceries that will be bought but because of the boxes used for the groceries. She is excited to get the boxes and play with them. She calls them her cars or sometimes her rocket ships. Let's ride the rocket ship and fly to the moon.
